Young Thespians: Needs Assessment

The Needs Assessment on the Inclusivity of Performing Arts Education for Youth forms the first of two project results of ‘Young Thespians’. It presents the findings from research conducted via interviews, focus groups, and desk research conducted in both Austria and Iceland. Through first-hand accounts and lived experiences, as well as an overview of initiatives, projects, and publications, the report serves to form a baseline and provide evidence directly from the field, via practitioners and youth representatives, on issues surrounding marginalisation that result in fewer opportunities due to ethnicity, race, gender, language, financial status, and religion. The report also consists of recommendations to encourage and facilitate inclusive practices in performing arts education, which will be translated into practice-oriented educational material in the form of a Toolkit.
