Baseline Survey. The base of the URB_ART project
We believe that in order to achieve the goals of the URB _ART project, in-depth comprehension of the current state of urban arts education is critical. More specifically, we first want to know what is on the ground: what are the needs and challenges of low-skilled adults in marginalized communities, in the field of culture and education, and what is the role of multi- and metrolingualism in this.
Our first activity in the project is conducting a baseline survey, which will be a pillar for our further suggestion on how to provide better access to urban arts for low-skilled adults from marginalized communities.
The Slovenian team from ZRC SAZU is responsible for preparing and leading our baseline survey on transdisciplinary and multilingual urban arts education, but all partners will contribute. This will enable us to reach a much larger and more diverse number of informants. Although our primary target group are low-skilled adults from marginalized communities, our survey aims to reach adult learning providers, community art actors, as well as independent artists and arts educators. It will be they who will give us insight into the current situation of urban art education and perhaps point the way to promising approaches.
Our baseline survey consists of three parts: the online questionnaire, expert interviews, and focus groups. By combining the methods, we hope to have the opportunity to hear individual voices, but also to identify some broader trends.
